One day Copper Foil class
This method can be as simple or as complicated as you wish and it is ideal for making hanging sun catchers because the end product is not very heavy. You are not restricted by a frame and can therefore make your project any shape you wish. It could even be three dimensional.
What you will be learning:
- Firstly, if you haven’t done it before, you will learn how to cut glass safely. It’s really not too difficult after a bit of practice.
- Then, when you’ve decided on a design, you need to choose your colour scheme and cut out the pieces of glass. They need to fit together well so accurate cutting is quite important. Straight edges are easier.
- Once the glass is cut each piece then needs to be washed and have adhesive copper foil attached around the edges. It’s a bit fiddly but not difficult and can be done whilst enjoying a cup of tea.
- The pieces are then soldered together with a soldering iron.
- Finally, you will need to attach a ring for hanging your piece and then clean and polish it.
- You may well be able to make more than one project in a day, depending on the complexity.
